BAPTIST YOUTH FELOWSHIP (BYF):
Since the establishment of the village and foundation of the Church in 1949, there was no particular frontal youth organisation in the Church. With the need of forming a youth body, Christian Endeavor (CE) was formed in 1950 leaded by Pu Lunsei Chongloi and Pi Lhingkhochin Kipgen.
Later in 1956 Christian Endeavour was changed to Baptist Youth Fellowship where Miss Lhaiboi Singsit and Miss Hoikhovah (Kanshi) Lhouvum were its first leaders. Henceforth in 22nd February 1959, the first Youth Day was celebrated and later in 1985 the youth administration with a designation- President and Secretary was later changed to Chairman and Secretary with Mr. Lunkholal Lhouvum and Miss NeilamMisao as the designate positively for the first time.
One cherished moment of the youth was the grand celebration of 40th Youth Day on the 22nd February 1999 which coincides with the Church’s 50th Year of Foundation. Till date a condolence service for the departed soul of the youth leaders are held time to time. In 1951 the Youth showcase its grand performance at Ponlen Khoppi with various accolades of 1st prize in Sacred songs and solos.
In 1952 Baptist Youth Fellowship bags 3rd Prize at Changoubung Khoppi (Conference) with III Alexander Tonic Solfa book as its prize. In 1964, the Youth Fellowship also bags 1st prize at Tujang Vaichong Conference with accolades of personal certificate to the entire participant. Later in 1969, Christmas Carol – The first of its kind was initiated under the leadership of Pu SM Paokai and Pu (L) Paominthang Chongloi which is still in observation and in action till today. Also in 1974 the Youth Fellowship produce a spectacular performance where Miss Lhingneikim Misao won first prize in Solo competition with Miss Nemlam Lhouvum begging the third place which later was blessed and felicitated with a Cow and a Pig.
In 1991 the Youth fellowship won various prize at TBA Youth Conference, Taloulong. Till date the Baptist Youth Fellowship took keen intervention and participation in every activity of the Association with interest and dedication.
